QUEST: 1,000 Woodcuts

April 2005 Update -  219 completed
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Hello dear friends!

Just about done with the spring season! And what a spring it has been, rain and wind for the first two months caused me to question my sanity once more. But I endured and the rains also gave the Southwest the most spectacular flower season I remember. You better believe it there are flowery colorful woodcuts in the making...meantime, check my new photo albums with gorgeous flowers and other adventures.

The Governor's Awards Conference was fun to attend (even though I skipped the second day; wasn't my fault, Lake Tahoe was calling me). In case you missed it, the pieces are all finished and the project completed. Sigh.

More exciting news for the year: I'm going to be on TV!
The Home & Garden Television Network (HGTV) has a show called Crafters Coast to Coast and they came "casting" to Las Vegas. I raised my hand! So they will be filming the making of a puzzle woodcut in mid May and I will announce when the show will air just as soon as I know. Should be fun because they want entertaining crafters so I get to act pretty goofy (that is, act naturally).

If you are in Las Vegas, don't forget the one-woman show in the summer; details will appear in my exhibits page just as soon as I know more.

As always, you can peruse the latest works here:

Thoughts and ramblings:

A little story from my most recent festival, have hanky handy!

Whilst sitting in the awesome shade of my booth in a perfect spring day, I had the immense pleasure of meeting a young budding artist, a freshman in high-school this year, who came by and just fell in love with my prints. He browsed and browsed and we talked about art and such things. After a while he left and promptly returned with an awesome print of one of his drawings and showed me proudly (shown left, Star Keeper by Daniel Jimenez). I asked him if he wanted to trade something for it and his eyes lit up. He searched and found something and asked me if that was okay and we traded. He literally ran out of my booth, came back to thank me twice, came back with a friend to shake my hand, came back and gave me a set of watercolor cards he had made and told me that the trade had meant a lot to him. To me as well.

Way too cute. I told him to keep in touch and he said: "Oh I will!". Sniff...man, the rewards of some of those festivals go beyond words.
