QUEST: 1,000 Woodcuts
July 2005 Update - 225 completed

Hello dear friends!
Summers
are fun for the festival artist...well, at least for me. I do only shows I like
and pick the ones in the "coolest" spots, speaking both about the
ambient temperature and the show itself. In spring and fall I put up with zoo-like
shows, long drives and other assorted "perks" of the festival circuit.
Not so in the summer. The summer is mine to enjoy and I have fun at every show,
camp when I can, hike as much as possible and enjoy cool lakes and cool pines.
I'm off to a gem of a festival in Lake Tahoe this week, tomorrow to be precise!
A beautiful lake awaiting, a great drive, temps in the 70's, some secret hikes
to secret lakes in the plans...
This month I worked on some colorful pieces. I'm having fun playing with the clean transparent colors of printing inks, although I tend to like the hues "right out of the tube". The flower filled spring contributed to the shift, I think, although I'm already yearning for some earthy colored "woodpeople." Let's see what happens.
The City of Henderson Multigenerational Center has honored me with a one-woman show in the summer at the Gallery at Liberty Pointe in Henderson (250 S. Green Valley Parkway), to run August 8th through September 16. I will show all my latest works. There is a reception/opening on August 10th, 7-8pm.
As always, you can peruse the latest works here:

Thoughts and ramblings:
Not
much to tell this time, my mind seems to be in lazy summer mode. I do want to
take this summer issue to thank all of you (there are now 612 faithful subscribers
to this e-newsletter!). Many thanks also to those of you who reply to encourage
or comment.
Some times the artist's life can be a bit lonesome. We artists withdraw to think and to create, we travel to far away places, enter competitions and attend gallery openings without seemingly ever knowing anyone else "out there". Even when we meet each other it's only for a moment that we get together, withdrawing once more to enter our own strange creative world. "Oh, mama, don't let your babies grow up to be artists"...(just kidding, I'm having a ball).
But lonesome does not mean lonely, as I have many scattered friends all over the earth and I can count on all of you to listen every once in a while, send comments and visit my web site. Some times I even unexpectedly run into a few of you in far away places and the world seems small and friendly again. To all of you I send great appreciation and best wishes.
As usual, you can read more by reading the diary (I seem to be quite chatty
this year):
