Image: I was coming home from the Northwest
last year after a week or so vacation--in the rain! Misty and beautiful,
but depressing to a sun worshiper like me. On the way back, just hitting
the Northern Nevada border on a back road through the pines, I knew I was
near the desert when I spotted in the distance the clearing sky, the naked
mountains, the welcoming sun of the desertlands.
