Block:     Purple Heart
Ink:         Mixes of red, yellow, orange, umber, violet, sienna and black
Paper:     Fabriano Tiziano Violet and Purple
Process:  These are "puzzle" pieces, in which the block was sawn in 3 pieces prior to printing. Each piece is inked separately with its separate color, the block is assembled at press. There is a rainbow mix on two pieces, which means I mixed two inks while loading the roller. The result is a color print done in one single pass. I found purple heart wood very tough to work with; too dense and too porous for woodcuts but the blocks are to die for!
Image:    Working toward minimalism? Just felt like making two simple woodcuts emphasizing paper, color, and the "feel" of summer in the desert.
