Process: One block reduction, three stages
Image: I started with the figures lightly drawn on
the wood, as I usually start a figurative drawing. For this particular
piece I was fortunate to have two friends pose for me. The plan was to
have the figures floating in the picture plane, but after I oiled the block
with linseed oil the richest grain appeared as if by magic and I had to
carve it in the background.
